This week we had someone for the Summer learning journey come in to give a prep and we had to have a look at some different country's and answer some questions.

The capital of japan is is Tokyo. Tokyo's population in 2018 is 10,000,000. In January Tokyo has a of of up to 10 degrees and a low of 2 degrees. Tokyo is located in the northern of japan. The most common language spoken in Tokyo is Japanese.

For art this term we have been making Japanese cherry trees. First we got a piece of paper and blue dye and dyed the paper blue and then we got some black dye and a straw. we put some dye and the paper and got the straw and blue on to get a tree affect. After that we got some pink paint and added that on to make the blossoms and we let it dry and stuck it on some black paper. And then we learnt to spell ours name in Japanese. here is my cherry tree art

For writing this week we have been learning to write would you rather stories. Here is the one I had written.

Would you rather be able to fly or be able to turn invisible

I think I would rather be able to fly because I would be able to get great views and won't have to pay to go to other countries”.

And turning invisible I wouldn’t be able to have any friends and my family won’t be able to see me.

My prior knowledge about a narrative is that it's and fake story that people have made up. For example JK Rowling's Harry Potter is a narrative.

My sinquain poems

For writing last week we had been learning how to write cinquain poems. A sinquain poem is a poem with 5 lines and in a specific shape. It starts with a one word title then below it two describing words.

Under the describing words add 3 ing words.

after that add in a line of what you fell about that word and then under that line add a word describing the title. here is my one.

For literacy we have been learning about germs and flow charts we had been reading a book called lymphcytes and the invasion. Our activity was to create a flow chart.

Virus enters through the nose or windpipe

Just a few vzv containing droplets up your nose in your mouth Or on your skin and zap your infected.

Before you have symptoms you can't pass it on.

The virus infects your skin cells and starts causing an itchy rash of small red spots.

The vzv has one more surprise... Blisters.

as the virus attack your skin cells they burst and now you have scabs to look forward toVzv As soon as the virus enters your body your immune system swings into actions.

The immune system rids your body of invaders it leaves good microbes alone but it attack harmful bacteria and viruses.

It also attacks body parts it doesn’t recognise. Your immune system makes blood cells

At six o'clock in the morning at school some people prepared the hangi pit. 

The people that made the hangi pit stack wood, irons or stones. 

After that they put wood in and let the wood burn for 3 hours. then remove the ember and put the hot stones back in. 

Put the hangi baskets in the hangi pit on top the irons or stones. 

spread cabbage over the hangi baskets and cover it with wet sacks. shovel dirt on top to stop steam escaping. 

seal tightly wait 3 hours for cooking to finish. 

Then uncover it and eat.

For writing we have been writing a persuasive argument about are monsters real. We have been reading a book called monster are baloney.

My first reason is they don’t want to come till you are sleeping in your bed nice and tight.

My second reason is the monsters don’t want to be seen until the right time and that time is an monster and alien invasion.

ast of all my third reason is there are videos on the internet that show monsters getting spotted during and day and night.

So I believe that monsters are real.

Spencer park trip

Last Thursday Whakarua and Punui-o-toka went to Spencer park. When we were there we got to go down to the beach. We  had a competition to see had the biggest sculpture using shape made out of sand and only using our hands. this is my group and we had help from our teacher Mr Goodin.
