The power sentence

If you waffle a lot, try starting your sentence with a power statement of 12 words or less.

Examples: Money is the route of all evil.

What is right, isn't always popular.

Hard work leeds to positive results.

Bad work leeds to bad results


The 'red, white and blue' sentence/

Use this sentence style when you have several ideas to convey about a topic.

Examples: Successful students are focused, hardworking and punctual.

                                                        red              white                                 blue

The earth's key resources are clean air,  fresh water and natural enviroments.

Sunshine, water and friends make for a pwerfect weekend adventure.

Rain, storms, and floods make for a bad weekend adventure

The 'w' sentence - makes the sentence sound thoughtful and knowledgeable

Remeber the rule: not every 'w' words works as a sentence starters.

Remeber to put the coma in when the parts affected by your 'w' word are finished.

Examples - who, while, whereas, when, where, what, whilst, with

Whilst the class was eating, i read my book.

Where you like chocolate, others prefer candy

When it starts raining, you should go inside

When you're in a test, you shouldn't talk 

While people are talking, you should be listening


The 'ing' sentence

Use the -ing version of the verb e.g to run - running 

Remeber the rule - when you finish your -ing phrase, place a comma, then write the rest of the sentence.

Some -ing words - listening, watching, running, realising, emerging, grasping, speaking, analysing, signaling, exposing, gossiping

Example - Realising the danger, people fled from the cities.

Shaking away the nerves, he walked towards the microphone.

achknowledging the speaker, he bowed his head.

Realising he was in trouble, he quickly ran back inside


The 'ed' sentence

Use the ed version of the verb e.g to jog-jogged. This makes for a puncy start to your sentence.

Remeber the rule- When you finish your -ed phrase, place a comma, then write the rest of the sentence.

Some - ed words - frustrated, suprised, excited, committed, undaunted, determined, overpowered, concerned, cornered, delighted, enthralled.

Examples 

Determined to win, Tony pushed himself to the last meters of the sprint.

Concerned for the welfare of others, the prime minister passed new laws.

Frustrated by the ongoing rain, i stared out the window.

delighted to see the icecream truck, i quickly ran outside

The adverb sentence: 

e.g Suorisingly, Confusingly, Firstly, Remarkably, Often                                               

Adverb sentence  starters add unterest or intrigue to our work.

Remeber the rule: When you start a sentence with an adverb, place a comma after the adverb then write the rest of the sentence.

Examples - accidentally, shockingly, concerningly, excitedly, significantly, similarly, simply

Simply, I added the milk to the batter

Shockingly, The lunch today was served hot

Simply, we started walking down a hill 

fortunatly, none of us of fell over walking down  

Suddenly, its started raining harder


The prepositions sentence:

Examples:In, Agianst, Between, Over, Behind, Within, Under, Below, At, For, Throughout, Near, About

A prepostion gives location or movement

Rememeber the rule: ,When you start the sentence with a preposition, you need to put a comma when the movement or positions end

Examples:

In the beggining, we talked alot.

Throughout the lesson, i tried not to fall asleep.

Near the basketball court, is the rubbish bin.

Under the bridge, there was a troll

Over the bridge, there were some cars

Cats make better pets than dogs

 Hello today for humanities we had to do a task where we have to argue whether we are for or against a certain idea we had 5 topics to pick from and i have picked cats make better pets than dogs. We also had to use a site called coggle to make a mind map of all the ideas why we are for or against the topic. I agree with cats make better pets than dogs because they are eaiser to look after.
