Today for the summer learning journey he were learning about world war 2 and the day the wars stopped and this was our task. Imagine that you were living in New Zealand in 1945 and you had to plan a VE day party at your house. Who would you invite? What would you do to celebrate? I would invite my friends and family to our house for a party and have a barbecue

and swim in our pool out the back of our house.

Today in is the 2nd day in week 2 of the summer learning journey we have been learning about popular culture I reckon the man was trying to make his way out of the snow. I wouldn't like silent movies because it doesn't give you information of what going on and you don't know what there doing.

Today for math we had to make a Tam gram reindeer first we had to cut out some shapes then put them in order to make a Reindeer. It was easy to make the Reindeer because we had a picture to copy.

In reading we have been making a story about a picture of a goblin and a kitten 

first we talked about the picture then we started doing the hook then we had to finish the story

Creek! A giant green goblin walks carefully through the dark and creepy bedroom where the little karate kitten rests.

Creak! goes the floor board and giant green goblin stop’s walking and his heart starts racing, hoping that the little karate kitten doesn't wake up.

SO little the goblin knows the kitten is just asleep waiting for the goblin to come closer. Suddenly the goblins heart starts to slow down and he starts walking coser and closer.

After that the karate kitten starts to stand up and say’s to the goblin “ get out of my room or else” then the giant green gremlin says “why should I get out Because i’m big and your small. And you can do nothing.”

“Then i’ll attack! “ says the kitten,  “hya take that … and that!”

“Ow “ says the gremlin “I didn’t mean any harm. I just wanted some company for my house”

For the last month we have been creating a logo for the Uru Manuka cluster.

The reason why I did this design is because the teachers are the tree then the children are the grass. The teacher are helping the children expand and learn.

This week we had to make a poem of our feelings at the new school. I like our new school because the rooms are bigger and theirs a diamond spinney shape that you can go inside and climb to the top.

I feel excited walking through the new classrooms

I hear screaming on the playground.

I see shooting balls through the hoops.

I smell the fresh air as I walk into the classroom.

I touch the hard floor while I’m walking in class.

I feel lucky to be one of the first children to be at the new school.

For calendar we had three option of what we could do I had chose to create the city. First we had to plan the houses then we did a good copy of our plan. We had to squares on our good draft as lightly as we can. Then we made the houses on the good draft and put in windows and doors. Next we painted our work After that we put vivid on the houses, windows and doors.

 We started off by learning about logo's and what colors represent and why company's chose their logo.    Next we started creating our logo design's in our inquiry book. Then we had to create them on our Chromebook's and chose the color that represent's our self.

Make Their Day Shop

For Digi wards a group set up a "Make Their Day Shop."
I could buy an ice block and instead of paying with money I paid with a kind act to make someone's day. I chose to say to someone to pay for my ice block.

Coconut raisin bliss balls

Coconut raisin bliss balls 

Guys these are so delicious.

On Tuesday room 6, 7, and 8 made bliss balls.

First we had to wash our hands to make sure we had no germs. Then we had to stand around a table. Next we Added one cup of raisins, 1 and a half cup of oats and coconut oil to the food processor. Turn on the food processor and hold the button down for about a minute.

After that we put the desiccated coconut on one of our plates and the cocoa powder on the other. Take

a spoon full of the mixture. Roll the mixture into small bliss balls. After that Roll your bliss ball in your desiccated coconut or cocoa powder.

Just after that we were allowed to eat our bliss ball. They were delicious it was fun making the bliss balls. I had put my bliss ball in the the cocoa powder. The cocoa was a bit strong but the rest was still delicious.

Stormy Night

This term we have been learning about weather. In art I created a stormy night picture. First I dyed my background using dark blue dye, black, light blue. Next we changed to do make our silhouette First I created my town with white crayons. Then I got some scissors  and cut the silhouette out. After we had to create our storm cloud with black paint. Then we draw our lightning with white paint. Then I went glue my silhouette on to my art and write our name. Here is my weather art

WALT: To write an information reports with the correct structure and language features

We are starting to learn about weather for reading we have been writing information reports.

Man it is cold today “there must be a storm coming… Weather changes minute by minute.

Every day the weather might change. In most countries of the world the weather is different. In some countries like Canada and America get snow at Christmas and in the winter. Other countries don’t get Snow.

In some places there are tornado's and cyclones there are different seasons of the year. There is Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter Seasons happen at different times of the year.

To day is a nice day the nice warm sun. Out there is the nice light blue sky the air is cold.

Floods are caused by heaps of rain. Flash floods can bring walls of water from 10 to 20 feet high. Sewage can get into floods.

There is nothing better than staying inside with hot Milo watching a movie.

A day in a life of a Leopard Seal

Over the last few weeks during literacy we have been earning about Antarctica. We visited the Antarctic Center and read lots of information about Antarctica. I wrote a description about Antarctica using the correct structure and language feature. I also researched about animals and produced a story about a day in the life of a Leopard Seal. Growth mindset & Fixed mindset

During power time we have been learning about growth mindset. We watched a short video about Luke sky walker and Yoda lifting a x-wing out of a lake. Luke had a Fixed mindset. A fixed mindset is where some one wants to give up easily. Yoda taught him how to have a growth mindset. A growth mindset is some one doesn't want to give up. We talked what we could say to ourselves to change from a fixed mindset to a growth mindset here is my D.L.O.

For the last two weeks we have been making penguin art. First we had to sketch the penguin Next we had to paint the black Then we had to paint on the yellow and orange. After that we had to paint the white on the white here is mine

Weather art

For literacy we are learning about weather. We use crayon and dye to create a rainy day picture. First I used white crayon to draw the rain. Next I drew a rainbow with crayons, I ha to make sure there were no white bits in the rainbow. After That I used different colors of dye to paint the cloudy dark sky.

Antarctica desription

We have been to the Antarctic center to learn stuff for our literacy topic we have been learning how to write descriptions. We had to look up facts about Antarctica then had to write our descriptions here is my description.

We often share personal information when we are online. The people we share with could be our friends and family or people we don't know. We need to make smart decisions about what personal information we share online.

My hiding spot

My hiding spot is high off the ground. It is covered with leafs and I stand on a branch. It is dangerous getting up there knowing what branch to stand on and what branch is strong. You can easily get seen but not if your right over them. It can be more dangerous if you go to high because some of the branches are skinny, weak, and bendy.

Reflection

Looking forward to summer

For writing we were learning about adding in alliterations and adjectives.We have been writing a looking forward to Autumn story. This is a picture of my looking toward to autumn writing.

We had to brainstorm words to do with autumn. After we brainstormed about Autumn we took some of those words and made our own poem.

This week we have been learning about prefixes. A prefix is a group of letters put  to the front of the word and changes the meaning of the word. Here is my not phonics task that I had to do for the week it has these prefixes  Un, Im,Dis, Mis. Here is a screen shot of it.
