For the last term we have been working on projects for dte we got to pick whether wanted to code a project on scratch or make a robot i picked coding a game on scratch. We were allowed to make any game we wanted on scratch i decided to make a game where you have to go through obstacles and if you touch a certain colour you reset. next time i would probably add more levels and more characters or possibly make a completely different game. Overal it was pretty fun even tho i didnt do as much as i wanted to.

Gymnastics

For the past 4 weeks we have been doing gymnastics in PE. We have been using 6 apparatus-bar, beam, paralel bars, mini tramp, floor/mat and trampoline. 

One challenge for me was trying do do the backwards hip circle on the horizontals bar.

One acheivment for me was  doing a frontflip and landing on the mini tramps.

Back in 1975 14 september after 6 months of planning 50 people left te hapua to walk to wellington which was a 1000km walk the reason for this was to stop people from selling maori land the march was led by whina cooper at the time 79 years old along the way people joined in the hikoi for support when they reached parliament down in wellington 29 days later around 5000 people were with them to give a petition that 60,000 people had signed to the prime minster

2. Why did the protestors need helmets? Special long batons they would hit with and they would also get kicked violently

3. Why do you think being called honorary whites upset the maori all blacks? Because whites wanted them to know whites were better

4. Why was the hamilton rugby game cancelled? Anti tour protesters occupied the field chanting

5. Do you think this protest was successful? Why? Why not? It wasn’t successful because many was injured but at the same time some people got the message

Contraction: Opposite of explode goes in not out. For our experiment we got a soda can filled it up alittle bit got a bunsen burner filled it up got a ice cream box filled up with cold water once the can was steaming we put the can in the ice cream box and the can imploded 

Expansion: Get bigger. Ball and hoop test at the start the ball could go through we got a bunsen burner heated up the ball and then tryed putting the ball through the hoop and it didn't fit through unlike earlier

Conduction: Heat going through a solid. We got 5 pins put some vase;ine on the pins put it onto a peice of metal got a bunsen burner put it at the end of the metal and see how long it took for the pins to fall off the heat melting the vaseline

Convection through liquid: Is the same as conduction but transfered through a gas or liquid. Crystal experiment we got a mini dish thing filled it with warm water got some small crystals and a straw put the crystals through the straw and waited to see how long it would take the the crystals to cover the dish thing 

Convection through gas: We got a tea bag cut the top off took the tea leafes out propped it up got a match lit it on fire and this was meant to lift the tea bag off the ground but certain tea bags work with this but ours didn't work

Use this sentence style when you have several ideas to convey about a topic.

Use the -ing version of the verb e.g to run - running 

Remeber the rule - when you finish your -ing phrase, place a comma, then write the rest of the sentence.

Some -ing words - listening, watching, running, realising, emerging, grasping, speaking, analysing, signaling, exposing, gossiping

Example - Realising the danger, people fled from the cities.

Shaking away the nerves, he walked towards the microphone.

achknowledging the speaker, he bowed his head.

Realising he was in trouble, he quickly ran back inside

Remeber the rule: When you start a sentence with an adverb, place a comma after the adverb then write the rest of the sentence.

Examples - accidentally, shockingly, concerningly, excitedly, significantly, similarly, simply

Simply, I added the milk to the batter

Shockingly, The lunch today was served hot

Simply, we started walking down a hill

The prepositions sentence:

Examples:In, Agianst, Between, Over, Behind, Within, Under, Below, At, For, Throughout, Near, About

A prepostion gives location or movement

Rememeber the rule: ,When you start the sentence with a preposition, you need to put a comma when the movement or positions end

Examples:

In the beggining, we talked alot.

Throughout the lesson, i tried not to fall asleep.

Near the basketball court, is the rubbish bin.

Under the bridge, there was a troll

Cats make better pets than dogs

 Hello today for humanities we had to do a task where we have to argue whether we are for or against a certain idea we had 5 topics to pick from and i have picked cats make better pets than dogs. We also had to use a site called coggle to make a mind map of all the ideas why we are for or against the topic. I agree with cats make better pets than dogs because they are eaiser to look after.

Hauora

For the past 3 or 4 lesson we have been learning about Hauora. We had to make a paper whare tapa wha about Hauora with a different aspect on each wall. The 4 aspects of hauora are Taha  tinana, Taha wairua, Taha whanau  and Taha hinengaro and how this relates to a whare is that a whare has 4 wall put one aspect on each wall and if one aspect of your hauora is bad then your whare is going to collapse and you won't be ok

HHS EOTC days

Last week for school we had 3 EOTC days. Each day was a different trip the first day we went to spencer and adrenaline forest this day was kinda fun at adrenalin forest except we didn't have much time because most of it was spent at spencer park. The second day we went to jellie park this was the funnest day of the three it was the hottest day of the three as well it would've been better if we went on a colder day then there was the third day it started by being late there were things like the art gallery that we didn't get to go in but we did get to go to the museum, margaret mahy playground and the new library in town this was a decent day but not the best.

For science we had been working on an egg drop challenge on our first day we were given 40 minutes to looks at designs and started making those designs the next day we were given 30 minutes my group had no clue what we were going to make so my team mate just added a bunch of rubber foam together and as a last minute entry he went up to the dropping zone dropped it and it somehow the egg inside it survived the 4m fall in the rubber foam contraption next time i would make a parachute for our contraption to slow down the fall and raise the chances of surviving.

For science we have been learning about gravity and that gravity is the thing that holds us onto earth  

1. is gravity on every planet the same? No not a single planet has the same amount of gravity but some have similar amount of gravity but most either have higher or lower gravity than other

2. How is gravity related to mass? Typically planets with more mass / that are bigger usually have more gravity and smaller planets have less gravity also with earth it has its gravity it mainly comes from its mass.

3. How much would you weigh on different planet? Different planets weight converter

4. How would life be different if you lived on a planets with higher or lower gravity? Life would be much different because if you live on a planet with low gravity you'll have to be more careful of jumping because you might fly into space / you'll be up in the air for longer and with high gravity you'll be pulled towards the ground and it'll be harder to stand up on.

Mars 2020

 For science we have been learning about mars 2020 and the rover called perseverance

Have you ever wondered what mars is made out of? 

On July the 30th NASA sent the rover called perseverance up to mars this was the start of its 7 month trip to mars you might think why’s it going up to mars it going to collect so dirt and rocks to bring back to earth and test it to see if there is or as been any life on mars. 

When perseverance the rover is on mars it will release this drone/helicopter so they can get some photos of what mars looks like once the rover comes back to earth on a rocket they’ll land on this special landing pad the most important thing is that they get the samples back from mars.

For the past 3 weeks we have been involved in the B & E kete

My role has been CEO and making sure everything being done on time ready for market day

My company was called Chucky's Sponges

Our product was chucking sponges at teachers for low prices

My reflection on how the business went was poorly our strength is having teachers and with teachers means more business and our weakness is with no teachers our business isn't what it is and doesn't sell well and that's exactly what happened

My reflection on the overall B & E is bad the weather was extremely hot it was not fun but the preparing was fun 

How do bees make honey?

 How do bees make honey?

Bees are responsible for pollinating three quarters of the world's fruit and

vegetable plants and making yummy honey that most people like.

Some beehives can make upto 1-2kg of honey per year

Firstly bees need a suitable food source.This suitable food

source bees find are flowers. When they get these flowers they use

their tongue and suck out the nectar sometimes bees need upto

1k flowers to fill up a bee’s honey stomach 

Secondly the bees store the nectar in their honey stomach.  

Once the nectar is inside the bees stomach, something called 

enzymes break down the nectar and turn into simple sugars/honey. 

The worker bee then goes to the hive and chuck its out of it

stomach into another house bees stomach the reason why

they do this is to dehydrate the honey once The bees have passed it to

teacher other they then put the honey into a honeycomb and

then once it's in the honeycomb they plug it up with a bees wax cap   

It takes a lot of time for bees to make honey, so enjoy it when you have it.

Emotions

In the last two weeks we have looked at Resilience - Emotional Awareness (understanding emotions) and Impulses. I have come to realise that emotions or these things mean that they impact your life and the way you act.

Being able to control my emotions in different situations avoids me getting in trouble and certain situations that can impact my life

Knowing how to react and respond in situations rather than acting on impulses means i know how to act properly and behave my self
